It is with great sadness that the family of Geoffrey Herbert Johannes announce his passing from cardiac arrest, at the age of 76 years old. Geoffrey, resident of Stowmarket, passed away at West Suffolk Hospital on the 9th May 2026. Geoffrey was the husband of 51 years of marriage to Paula Johannes, who sadly passed away in 2021. He will be lovingly remembered and mourned by his six children (Simon, Marcus, Adam, David, Sarah and Philip) and his three grandchildren (Titus, Elias and Sophia). Geoffrey’s funeral service will be held on Monday 15th June at 11am at Our Lady’s Roman Catholic Church, Stowmarket, followed by a reception at the Church Hall above. Family flowers only please, but donations if desired payable to Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF), a charity Geoffrey supported, may be made in his memory through Just Giving above or sent care of Andrew Bingham Independent Funeral Service, Number 2, Charles Industrial Estate, Stowmarket IP14 5AH. 01449 771666.

Very sad to hear of Geoff’s passing. He was a man of deep thoughts, emotions, and so much warmth and compassion for others, a true one-of-kind. We met during Christmas carols practice sessions, in his and his lovely Paula’s flat above the Wine Merchants. He read widely about faith and religious matters, and liked nothing better than a good debate, except of course for his beloved Paula and the family, who were his treasures. I won’t be able to attend Geoff’s funeral, but offer my sincere condolences to all the family.
