If a person is to be measured by how much they give love, share love and receive love, then David Berry is complete, by any reckoning.

In giving love, his adoration for Carol and their devotion to one other will forever endure; his love for his friends and family was palpable and if you were lucky to be a friend or a member of the family, that love was unconditional: put simply, you knew that he "had your back", whatever came along.

Sharing love was easy too. He happily gave his time to people who needed it. His work with Phab and other charities and his relationship with his work colleagues is testimony to that.

And receiving love came naturally. We all loved him. Often mischievous, his enthusiasm for life (unrelenting at times!) was infectious. His latter years reduced his capacity, but the twinkle in his eye definitely remained and his smiles were always a joy to receive.

Throughout his life he lit up the room. He was pure golden sunshine, right to the end.

We all take a little piece of David Berry with us. When you are feeling a bit low or need some of that love, think of him. I bet you can't without smiling.

I remember David from long ago when the family was much smaller. I was only a kid but I remember he always appeared to be a jolly person, always with a smile on his face. Rest in peace David.

David was a giant of a man. Not necessarily in a physical sense, even though he towered over me for much of my memory, but in personality and heart. He was the most genuine person I know, and never hesitated to offer his assistance if he felt he could do good. On the morning of my wedding, he learned that my wife-to-be had no living parents - and immediately offered to walk her down the aisle. As it turned out it was not necessary, but the offer touched us both deeply.
Rest in Peace, you gentle titan.

Carol has requested that people wear bright clothes to the funeral. Especially a nice bright tie (David Berry style)
