It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Amanda Jayne Sykes, who passed away peacefully on 22nd March 2026, aged 61.
Amanda was a determined and strong woman who never allowed her disabilities to define her. She was a devoted and passionate mother and grandmother, and her love for her family was at the heart of everything she did.
In her younger years, Amanda was known for her love of music, and she went on to enjoy a career as a carer within her local community. Although her time in this role was short, it was something she spoke about with great pride, and she truly loved caring for and supporting others.
Amanda will be deeply missed by her daughter Emma, her beloved grandchildren Theodore and Harriet, her mum Anne, and her brothers Dean, Nigel and Jeremy, along with their extended family.
She lived life on her own terms until the very end and continued to defy the odds with strength and resilience.
Her funeral will take place on 10th April at 10:00am at Dewsbury Crematorium.
