It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James 'Jim ' Vincent, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who died peacefully at the age of 94 on 27th March 2026.

Jim was the beloved husband of Christine and a much-loved father and step-father to Brian, Steph, Kevin, and Debi. He was also a proud and caring grandad, whose warmth, wisdom, and gentle humour will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A man of deep and lifelong Christian faith, Jim lived his life guided by kindness, humility, and compassion. His faith was a quiet but constant presence, shaping the way he cared for others and faced life with strength and grace.

Jim served his country in the army, an experience that shaped his strong sense of duty and resilience. Following his service, he built a long and respected career as an electronics engineer at Marconi Radar, where his skill and dedication were greatly valued.

Outside of work, Jim found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a passion for travelling, always curious to see new places and experience different cultures. At home, he loved gardening and took great pride in his handiwork, always busy with a DIY project. He also enjoyed the quiet challenge of sudoku, a pastime that reflected his sharp mind and patience.

Above all, Jim will be remembered for his kindness, steady presence, and deep love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

The family welcome all to celebrate the life of Jim but request family flowers only please.

Donations in Jim's memory warmly received for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.

In Loving Memory of Jim Vincent

Jim Vincent was a remarkable man—an army man, strong in character, patient, kind, caring, thoughtful, and always willing to help whenever he was asked. He was the kind of man not many are fortunate enough to know these days—a true gentleman with wisdom, discernment, and a quiet strength that touched everyone around him.

Though I never had a brother of my own, Jim you would have been my first choice. He was more than a brother-in-law; he was family in the deepest sense, loyal, trusted, and always someone you could rely on. His presence brought reassurance, his advice brought clarity, and his heart brought comfort.

I often tell people around the world about Jim, and especially about our KT trip all those years ago to see Barry Smith—memories that remain precious and full of laughter and friendship, what a drive home! Those moments will stay with me always, Barry was right Jim, now you can tell  him so..

Jim, as we say goodbye, we take comfort in knowing you are in a safe and heavenly place. The gates of which have opened wide, and the words spoken are surely these: “Welcome home, Jim, my loyal and faithful servant. You have finished the race, collect your medal.

You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in our hearts. I'll say hello to Canada for you which I know you loved.

To my dear Uncle Jim, thankyou for being you, thankyou for helping my Mum ( Aunty Annes sister) both with Aunty Anne and later with Christine,
You were the only person who managed to get me to tidy my bedroom EVER!!!
It was always done the day before you visited as I was growing up!
You gave me away at my wedding, you helped guide me when Paul died and you were by my side again when I married Martin and your words comforted me again when he died.
Your words always had meaning and love from the heart.
You will always be in my heart as my " Uncle Jim" the nearest I got to a dad after mum and dad divorced.
Thankyou for always being there for me, Thankyou for being you
Rest in peace uncle Jim, you had such a faith in god,
Sending my condolances and mylove as well to Christine and all the family.
Tina and Tom from Plymouth

Dearest Jim a friend for so many years, we loved to sit and hear his stories of the army and growing up in Cornwall. His love of God , his family and friends, not necessarily shown demonstrably more in his acts of service and kindness . Bless you Jim as you now enjoy heaven and seeing Jesus face to face. We will miss you. Love Stephen and Marie xxx
