In loving memory of Keith Burnell who sadly passed away on 1st March 2026. Keith was born on 23rd August 1942 in Kingston hospital to Edith and Walter Burnell. He joined his brother Walter and Joan his sister was born after. He was raised with his older brother and sister in Chessington, Surrey while their father was away in the R.A.F. during World War II.
In his teens Keith attended Kingston College of Technology between 1961-1965 and joined an apprenticeship at a local engineering firm in Chessington. His mum helped him buy a motorbike so that he could travel to and from work.
Keith was a family man and at the age of 59 Keith decided to take early retirement and moved to the Isle of Wight where they both worked to renovate “The Nook” and spent 15 years of retired life in the village of Brighstone. Keith was an avid sea swimmer and kept this up whilst he lived on the island. He drove his pride and joy Mercedes classic car around the island.
In the last few years Keith very much enjoyed being part of a community at Bond Lodge and enjoyed the music events and was a key instigator in getting all the ladies up to dance. He enjoyed socialising and made good friends. He was in his happy place helping his son planting, growing sun flowers and planting the potatoes and onions. He especially enjoyed using the hose.
Keith passed away peacefully with his son at his side listening to Louis Armstrong, Wonderful World and other 50’s music at the care home.
