After the sale of Red Ink Simon worked on web design and during this time he met Nicky and together they relocated to Spain in 2007. They were married in Gibraltar in 2007, and their first son Max was born in 2008. Simon worked in marketing for a Real Estate firm in Marbella on the Costa del Sol. In 2009 Simon and Nicky’™s second son, Leo, was born. The family continued to live in Spain until 2012 when they made the decision to return back to UK so that the boys could start school. They ultimately settled in Framingham, living happily on the Suffolk Coast. As Max and Leo settled into school and found a love of football, Simon earned his football coaching badges and began coaching at the local Framlingham Football Club. Something he enjoyed very much for many years. While Max continues to play football, Simon was very proud of Leo’s new found passion and talent for playing the guitar.

Back in the UK, Simon drew on his design experience from Red Ink and started Clicks Marketing, a web design and search optimisation business. During the early part of the Covid crisis in late 2020 Simon also started a business supplying air purifying machines for dental practices and doctor surgeries. The machines were being imported from China, and when the Russian invasion of Ukraine started in 2022, shipping rates increased rapidly and so Simon wound that business down.

In 2022, Simon and Nicky bought a small coffee shop in the small Suffolk town of Wickham Market. Nicky ran the day to day business while Simon worked on everything from machine servicing and repairs to the accounts. The business grew from strength to strength and was popular with both locals and tourists alike and in late 2025 the coffee shop was sold.

In recent years Simon had entered semi retirement, retaining a couple of clients in the Click Marketing business. He was enjoying watching Max and Leo approach the end of school and the adventures that lay ahead for them. Spending his extra free time with Nicky, and also with his friends on cycling and skiing trips.

Simon had for many years spent one or two weeks a year ski instructing for school trips in the alps, usually Italy. He loved to teach children to ski as they learnt so quickly and he could have them confidently navigating their way down the mountain after only a week of instruction.

In recent weeks Simon had been skiing in Cervinia, Italy, with friends. And for the first time in many years, eldest son Richard, and Simon had enjoyed a fabulous few days skiing together as well. Simon had then travelled to Tonale as the lead ski instructor for Max and Leo’s school ski trip. It was on this trip that Simon sadly, and unexpectedly, passed away. It is of some comfort that he passed away peacefully, in his favourite place, the Italian alps, having enjoyed a great days skiing in fresh powder.

Simon had an incredible mind and a deep passion for politics, science and maths. Never short of facts and always ready with an opinion, he truly was a fountain of knowledge.

He was a devoted husband and a proud, loving father to his four children and grandfather to five grandchildren, who meant everything to him. His family was at the centre of his world. He will be deeply missed.

Simon passed away 20/02/2026.
