In loving memory of Irene "Dutch"` Warrell who sadly passed away on 8th February 2026
Irene was born in Redhill in 1946 to Marjorie and Albert King, her older brother Ken also being part of the family. They all moved to Sandcross Lane Reigate in 1953 around the time that her younger brother David was born. She had a happy childhood and loved animals the family having several - cats, dogs and rabbits, and Irene liked the riding stable across the road, making friends with the Strawberry Roan there. She attended firstly Frenches Road primary school then later on Reigate Priory, and by all accounts enjoyed her education.
On leaving school she began work at Rosa Hyatt, a dress shop in Reigate, entering the world of fashion. After getting married to Martyn in 1972 and moving to Gomshall in the Surrey Hills, she joined Tina Trent dress shop in Dorking and returned there after several months travel in 1974, visiting the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Moving to Peaslake in the early 1980s after helping Martyn renovate their cottage there, she then worked at Grahams in Cranleigh before in 1988 taking on a Pet Food Store business in Peaslake village and running it for the next 18 years. 'Dutch' enjoyed her Huskies which both Martyn and her entered in working competitions, and helped stage sled dog events in the nearby Hurtwood as well as many other parts of the UK. She also enjoyed motorcycle touring in Great Britain and Europe together with Martyn.
Sadly 'Dutch' gradually developed Alzheimer's disease from her early 60's but was able to remain at home with help until 2018 after which she took up residence at Honeywood House Nursing Home in Rowhook, West Sussex. There she received kindness & care for nearly 8 years until passing away on 8th February 2026.
Her funeral and life celebration took place on 20th March 2026 at Randall's Park Leatherhead.
