This page has been created as a celebration of Dean Arthurs who died on 24th February 2026 after a heroic battle against cancer.
It is designed as a space where you can all upload your photos and memories that can be enjoyed by all and which Cecily will have access to forever.
The service will be held at Sedgemoor Crematorium on Saturday 21st March at midday. We have chosen a Saturday so it can be in the style of our wedding, open to all who want to say goodbye to Dean, young and old from near or far. It is a celebration of Dean so “bad” Hawaiian shirts and slogan T-shirt are very much welcome.
If anyone wanted to make a donation Cecily and I would like them to go to St Margaret’s Hospice who cared for Dean with such compassion, kindness and hefty slugs of Baileys in his evening hot chocolate.
After the service you are all welcome to come back to the village where will have a gathering in The Royal Oak, Stoke St Gregory. For an afternoon of reminiscing and laughter and in true eclectic Somerset fashion the Wildmoon Morris group will be in the village Square - which Dean would have found hilarious.
For those wishing to join the ceremony online, please click the Obitus link on this page and enter the following:

It was a beautiful visit with our old pal. I never knew a kinder, more generous person. Take care Deano. We will meet again.

The lovely, calm, funny Deano being king of the Machu Pichu mountain. In his colourful shirt. We will miss you Deano, rest in peace, you were snatched away far to soon ❤️🥰
I met Dean at Staffs Uni, studying Product Design. A creative, funny, and easy-going guy. Despite his illness, he surprised me by turning up to my 50th birthday party. It was an emotional reunion and he hadn’t lost any of his charm. Rest easy my friend!

A fine example of Dean's creativity! The Christmas card he produced back in 1996, featuring his friends and indeed himself, delivering baby Jesus some 'perfect pizza' :+)

It meant a lot to me that Dean and Jo made a special journey to see me, in our 50th year, when I was unable to travel. It was all too brief but a memory I shall treasure.
It is hard think that 30 years have passed since Dean, Jo, Andrew and I were sharing our triangular end of terrace in Stoke. Dean was funny, uniquely talented and enormously generous. I was privileged to call him my friend for all those years.
Our 'tallest' son Dean through the years xx
❤️ Miles of smiles ❤️
A day for hugs when we visited Dean with his amazing Mum and Dad, our lovely friend Hazel and Richard ❤️xxx
A lifetime of fond memories Dean, from barn to barn - or rather the half-finished 'Hausbergplatz' in USA where I got you believing in Santa again by leaving deer poo in the fireplace to your family joys of converting the Wagon House into a beautiful home
Fond memories of our work trip to China
I will always remember such fun times and your smile
