In loving memory of Heather Sutton who sadly passed away on 16th February 2026
Heather Iris Sutton (née Cook) was born on August 26, 1944, at Woodside Nursing Home in Woodford, Essex, to Iris Esther Cook and Raymond Edward Cook. She grew up in Loughton, a place that remained vivid in her stories throughout her life. She spoke often of happy days spent with her grandparents and of riding the bus with her brother, Robert — who, she liked to recall, had a particular knack for commenting on other people’s hats.
Heather attended Royal Holloway College, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Zoology and Botany. It was there that she met her soon-to-be husband, Richard. They were married on April 16, 1966, at Whitstable Parish Church, beginning a partnership that would span nearly six decades, marked by loyalty, shared purpose, and quiet dedication to one another.
Wherever life took them, Heather and Richard created beautiful gardens together. With patience, imagination, and hard work, they transformed each home into a place of color and welcome — living reflections of the care they poured into their life together.
Heather was a gifted and dedicated teacher who inspired generations of young people to believe in themselves. She had a rare ability to see potential in others and quietly nurture it. Among those most deeply shaped by her encouragement was her own daughter, Sarah, whom she always urged to work hard and follow her dreams.
She was a wonderful wife, a devoted and loving mother, and a doting and joyous granny to her grandson, Edward. Her family was her greatest pride and delight.
Heather is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; her daughter, Sarah, and son-in-law, Bill; her cherished grandson, Edward; and her brother, Robert (Bob).
She will be missed beyond words and remembered always with love.
