In loving memory of Alan Maynard who sadly passed away on 12th February 2026
Born in London on 2nd October 1938, the eldest of three boys who grew up in Bermondsey (although was evacuated to Sandbach, Cheshire during the war).
After the war, lived in various pubs operated by his parents May and Fred and subsequently moved to Southend in 1954 where he worked on the water chute at the Kursaal. Met Valerie in November 1957, and they got married in October 1961 at St Mary's Church, Prittlewell. Valerie and Alan had two sons, Kevin and David, who gave them five grandchildren, Luke , Jonathan, Josie, Ryan and Lauren and one great grandson, Henry. They remained happily married until the end.
