Roger was a smashing bloke to work with - even when we were representing different sides in the discussion. Always kept the best interests of "the railway" to the fore.

Just before we moved in to our house, we posted a note through Roger and Sylvia’s door asking them what we were getting into. Roger’s reply was kind, considerate, helpful, and let us know that whatever else, we could expect lovely neighbours.

One of our lasting memories is chopping down a sycamore that had got out of hand with Roger’s help. After a lot of jokes and a lengthy discussion between Christopher and Roger about whether or not its fall would hit the boundary fence between our gardens, the tree finally came down. Luckily, it came nowhere near the fence but it whisked past Roger’s face by a few centimetres as he and Christopher jumped back faster than I would have thought possible!

We loved having Roger and Sylvia as our neighbours and we’ll miss him very much.

All our love,

Paul, Ali, Indie, Saul and Christopher.
