In Loving Memory of Francesco De Vivo 26 March 1929 – 9 February 2026
Francesco passed away peacefully on 9th February 2026, at the age of 96.
Francesco was born in Pontecagnano Faiano, Italy, on 26th March 1929. In 1955, Francesco began a new chapter in his life when he moved to England with his beloved wife, Carmelina, and their eldest daughter, Antonietta. He first worked on Model Farm in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, before settling permanently in Nottingham in 1960, where he built his life and family.
In Nottingham, Francesco raised his four children — Antonietta, Teresa, Cosimo, and Giuseppe — with deep love and dedication.
In 1986, he suffered the heartbreaking loss of his wife to cancer. From that moment on, he devoted himself even more to his family, vowing to care for his children with all his heart, especially his sons Cosimo and Giuseppe, who were unmarried at the time.
Francesco was a kind, generous, and deeply family-oriented man. His greatest happiness was bringing loved ones together around the dinner table, where he would sit proudly at the head, smiling warmly as he watched his family enjoy time together. In retirement, he found great joy in caring for his grandchildren, passing on everyday values and treasured traditions — most famously, the art of making his homemade Italian wine.
He loved walking and rarely liked to sit still.
He remained closely connected to his roots, making special trips back to Italy to visit his daughter Antonietta and his granddaughters, and to spend time catching up with his brothers, sister, and cousins.
In his later years, although his mobility declined, his spirit never did. He continued to cherish time with his four great-grandchildren and he saw the fifth great-grandchild often over the phone. His great-grandchildren filled him with pride and happiness. His love for family gatherings never faded, nor did the smile and laughter that could light up a room.
Francesco will be remembered with love, gratitude, and pride by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the strong, close family he built and nurtured throughout his long and meaningful life.
