It is with great sadness that our family announce the passing of our much loved wife and mum ,
Margaret Smith.

Margaret passed away at home in Potterne suddenly on Sunday 25th January 2025 aged 84

Margaret will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of 64 years, Alan and their two children, Linda and Rachael.
Margaret was a wonderful Grandma who will be sadly missed by Darren ,Aimee, Samuel, Dane ,Josh ,Darcey and Harley
She was a great grandma to Neve ,Sean ,Logan ,Eliza ,Luna-Rae and Grace
She will also be missed by her only sister Lois.
Margaret was born Ivy house ,Devizes She had a wonderful childhood growing up in whistley road Potterne on a small Croft that belonged to her grandparents
Her first job was at the Hinchley engineering factory then later in life worked at Roundway hospital in the kitchen where she made many friends
Margaret lived all her life in her beloved village of Potterne she was a well known dog walker , it was one of her greatest pleasures in life to walk in countryside she loved so much with a faithful dog at her side , she greeted everyone she met with a cheery hello and a smile , another great joy was the hours she spent lovingly tending her garden
Margret loved the simple pleasures in life like warm sunshine on her face ,a quiet walk watching for the return of swallows each year ,meant the coming of summer the singing of sky larks picking pussy willow to collecting hazelnuts and walnuts in the autumn, a true country lady
Margaret’s life was never without one of of her dogs Mandy ,Scruffy Lily , Reah , Rhona
We welcome you to Margaret’s funeral which will be held at West Wiltshire Crematorium on Monday 23rd February at 1pm. All are welcome back to The Potterne Social Club to share memories of Margaret.
