We joined REME together as young apprentice vehicle mechanics, and he remained the same lovely, genuine person throughout the years. I’m thankful for the chance to meet again at the reunion. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult time.

We are devastated to say that John passed away on the 28th of January at the age of 56. John was born in Staffordshire on the 3rd of February 1969. He grew up with his parents Cecil and Elvira, and his older siblings; Angela, Steve, and Russell. John later went on to have two children with his wife Gill: Jessica and Jake.
John joined the British Army’s REME when he was 17. John proudly served for 25 years, whereby he was deployed to Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. John and his family lived in Germany and Australia but later returned home to England.
John was loved by so many and will be missed so much by his children, mum, sister, nieces, nephews, and all of his other family and friends. John joins his Dad and both brothers, who are sadly no longer with us.
John sadly lost his life after suffering for many years with PTSD developed from his time in the Army. People closest to him may know that he also developed an addiction to alcohol to cope with the battles he was suffering from mentally. As a result of this, our John sadly passed away due to ongoing health issues.
John’s story is complex but his life and who he was is much more than we can write here. He was a man who was full of passion and loved his motorbikes, cooking, and music - namely Bowie and Pink Floyd.
John was a social butterfly, always ready to tell a joke or make a sarcastic comment. More than anything, he was caring and great at offering advice to all his loved ones. John maintained his love for the Army throughout his life.
The funeral service is to be held at West Wiltshire Crematorium, Semington on Friday 27th February at 3pm. All are welcome, family flowers only.
There will be a wake following this at Devizes Town Football Club.
In memory of John, any charity donations we would ask if they could go to the Royal British Legion or Combat Stress.
