On the 28th of January 2026 Julia Clarke passed away in her home in Shortlands, Bromley aged 64. Her loving husband Martin, her children Allie and Hazel and her sister Fiona were all with her in her final moments, as well as a wealth of visitors during the last few weeks of her battle with cancer. The many friends who supported Julia and her family so steadfastly over the past two years, following her diagnosis, are a true reflection of the kind, caring person she was.
Julia loved people. She was warm, outgoing, a wonderful empathetic listener, and had a cheeky sense of humour. Her family was very important to her. It was wonderful that she was able to see her son settled with a lovely partner and her daughter happily married, as well as the birth of her grandson Freddie.
An avid reader for many years, Julia had a remarkable breadth of knowledge. She was certainly the person you would want on your team in a pub quiz! She also loved the countryside, particularly the Lake District, which she visited often in both summer and winter. The family are left with an album filled with photos of Julia, Martin and friends enjoying the breathtaking views from mountain peaks.
Another thing Jules left behind was her glorious garden, another great passion.. She never missed an episode of Gardeners’ World and took immense pleasure in growing a wide variety of plants and vegetables. Every plant had a story “this one came from Mum’s garden”, “this one was a gift from Sue” etc.
Julia was deeply loved in life, and she will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.
If you would like to share your memories of Julia, and perhaps a photograph, please feel free to do so on this site.
If you were considering sending flowers, the family would be grateful if you would instead consider making a donation to Cancer Research.
Please don’t feel obliged to wear black as Julia loved colour.
