Funeral Director
Evelyn Mary Hamlin, née Braunton, passed away peacefully on 24th January 2026, aged 79 at Savernake Care Home, Marlborough.
Born on 6th April 1946 in Milton Damerel, North Devon, Evelyn was the youngest child of Herbert and Sarah Braunton. Growing up in the Devon countryside shaped her lifelong love of family, home, and the simple joys of life.
Evelyn was a devoted wife to her husband Geoffrey, with whom she shared many happy years of marriage. Together they built a warm and welcoming family home filled with laughter, kindness, and steadfast love.
She was a loving and proud mother to Nicholas and Fiona and her greatest happiness was found in her five treasured grandchildren — Jack, Charlie, Oliver, Hannah, and Jacob — each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She took deep pleasure in their lives and achievements, always ready with encouragement, wisdom, and a gentle smile. Evelyn will be remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, generosity, and the calm reassurance she brought to those around her. She had a gift for making people feel cared for and at home, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Now reunited with Geoffrey, she is at peace.
Her funeral service will be held at St Matthew’s Church, Rowde, on 19th February 2026 at 2:00pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate her life. Any donations kindly given are for Alzheimers uk and Wiltshire Search and Rescue. C/O A.P McDonald Funerals, Devizes
