It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, partner, grandad, great grandad, brother & friend Brian Joseph Byrne on the 13th of January 2026 at the age of 86 🕊️
Born on 12th of November 1939 Brian grew up in Tanner st Bermondsey, a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He was a hard-working man who dedicated many years to his career as a Chauffeur, where he was known for his trait, work ethic and kindness to colleagues.
To us, Brian was simply the heart of our family. He was a true family man - a devoted father to Tony and Brian, a loving partner to Jan, a doting grandad to Freddie, Michael, Olivia, Tommy, Olivia, Jack, a great stepdad to Joe, Allison and Ian. He also had a rare gift for making the youngest members of our family, his great-grandchildren Casey, Cruz, and Rhodes, feel like the most important people in the room and with a great-grandson on his way.
We invite you to join us as we gather to say goodbye and celebrate a life well-lived.

I loved Brian so so much. He was like my second dad. Funny you mentioned Yorkies during the service. He’d always get me one when he picked me up from school. So lovely to see the family again after all these years, lots of love to you all from all of us. Brian will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Can't believe you've left us Uncle Brian. After losing my grandad Dennis at a young age You reminded me of him so much, I still miss him now. A cheeky charmer wheeler dealer proper bermondsey that had no trouble making friends where ever you went. I always remember seeing Freddie in her first year of secondary school and asking her one lunch time 'who's that bloke picking you up at the end of school?' She tells me that's my grandad and I go nah can't be coz that's my grandads brother, what's your last name? She tells me Byrne and I was surprised. RIP Uncle Brian xx

To our lovely Brian, you were the best neighbour we could have wished for. You become our dear friend that felt like family. Always looking out for us. Loved the kids. Never ever forgot their birthdays, even right till our last chat you still mentioned the girls birthdays. Always buying them their favourite chocolates and sweets. You were one of a kind.
I know you hated it when we moved but you were so happy for us. We will miss you so much.
