I found out about Sam's passing quite a few years ago, and it ate me up so much.
Sam was my first love. I met her on my 18th birthday, and we had an almost-immediate connection. We had our problems, some of which I now understand are part of having autism and as a result of PTSD, but I had no idea at the time.
I didn't have the emotional maturity to do anything besides try to help Sam with her problems that people clearly understood. In the end, we drifted apart. But I had heard that she found Dom, who I had met randomly through another circle of friends. When I heard that they had got together, and had a baby I was very happy for them, because Sam had always wanted to be a mother. And no doubt, she would have been the best mother.
There are not many days that go by where something happens that doesn't remind of Sam, such was the impact that she had on the three years she was in my life. I will always miss her dearly.
She was a beautiful woman. A talented poet. A brilliant artist. A warm and kind hearted person. Oh how I wish she was still here for the sake of her family.
I am leaving this at Christmas because should anybody close to her see it, I want you to know that I hope that you have been able to positively celebrate her life at Christmas.
