In loving memory of Pamela Mapley who sadly passed away on 8th January 2026

Pam was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was married to Terry for 61 years and they had two children Karen and Stephen. She was interested in whatever the family were doing and liked to be part of it where possible. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking and cooking for the whole family, her sausage rolls were legendary.

Pam and Terry loved gardening and had a beautiful garden, admired by many. They also enjoyed visiting Stately Homes and other people's gardens.

Pam worked for over 30 years for the NHS, as a medical secretary. She was the Secretary for Strood Gardening Club, where she worked tirelessly, to ensure that members had a programme of speakers and newsletters.

Sadly, Pam was admitted to Medway Hospital on 2nd January 2026. She was suffering from heart problems and we found she had cancer, and later Sepsis. The family wanted to bring Pam home, but sadly she passed before this could happen, however her children, their spouses and her grandchildren were able to say goodbye the day before she passed. Karen and Stephen were holding her hand as she sadly passed away.

Pam will be sadly missed by her family. The family know you are back together with Terry which is where you wanted to be, but she has left a huge void in their hearts which can never be filled.

I first met Pam [and Terry] more than fifty years ago when I was still finding my way in the world as a teenager. What began then as a chance connection grew into a lifelong friendship that shaped me in ways I’m only now with the benefit of hindsight fully able to appreciate. They were quite extraordinary people — the kind who showed simply by living what kindness, integrity, humour and love can look like.
Looking back, I realise how much of who I am now was influenced by their example over the years. They were role models without ever trying to be and their presence in my life was a gift I will always be grateful for. I carry their lessons with me and I always will.
Thank you Pam and thank you Terry for your friendship, your guidance and the countless moments that helped shape my life. Your absence is deeply felt but your impact remains Ken

We'll miss you lots Nan.

Not sure who I'm gonna ask for gardening advice anymore.

Not sure who's gonna sew our clothes and stuff back together when we rip them.

Not sure who's gonna make the sausage rolls when the girls have their birthday parties.

Not sure who is gonna sing us crazy songs, that nobody else has ever heard of.

Give Gramps a big kiss and cuddle from us all. He's probably got the hump coz you took so long to come and make his dinners again!

Love you Nan.

My Nanny ❤️

I can’t put into words how much I already miss you. I keep reaching for the phone to WhatsApp you a picture of the grandkids or ask you how long I need to cook something. Every time the house phone rings I think it’s you calling with some gossip or to tell us that Ollie’s got another mouse.

I know you’re reunited with Grampsy, and you’ll be celebrating your wedding anniversary together this week. I just wish you were both back here for a cuddle. Give him a kiss from me!

Love you so so much, Pickle - forever and ever ❤️
