Melanie and I shared a love of horses, we grew up on the same avenue and although there was an age difference between us, it never mattered — we always had so many horsey things to talk about. When she started working at Mary Ashworth’s, she would pass our house and often stop for a chat. I’ll never forget the day she told me about a pony Mary had who she thought would be the perfect first pony for me. I was only 12 years old and could hardly believe it. Mel even arranged for me to keep Thimble on the same yard where she had her own horse, Dingo, and she was always there with help, encouragement, and guidance. I will miss seeing her around so much, and I will be forever grateful to her for changing my whole childhood.Until we meet again my friend ❤️

In loving memory of Melanie Holden who sadly passed away on 20th December 2025 She was a woman who lived boldly and loved deeply. Devoted to her partner, her four children, and her beloved cats, family was always at the heart of everything she did. She found peace outdoors, especially around horses, where her free spirit truly shone. In her youth she embraced life to the fullest—partying hard, wearing her mohawks with pride, and never afraid to stand out. Strong, colourful, and unforgettable, she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fearless individuality.
