In loving memory of Grace Marie Manning.
Baby Grace arrived, born sleeping on the evening of 29th November 2025. We fell in love with our beautiful baby girl and as heartbreaking as it was, we were fortunate we were able to spend a few cherished days with her cuddling, reading and singing to her in the Butterfly Bereavement Suite at Southend Hospital. We are incredibly thankful for this time with Grace and the time our families were able to spend with her as well.
The Midwifery Bereavement Team are currently in the process of agreeing funding for a garden nearby to the midwifery department and within the grounds of the hospital; specifically to be used by bereaved families like us, to have a place where they can take their newborns to sit for a while in peace. We have chosen to send any kind donations in Grace's name to this department so other families can be supported in the same way we have been (and continue to be) by the fantastic facilities provided within the Butterfly Suite as well as the efforts of the Midwifery Bereavement Team and the staff in the midwifery department.
