Evan Delwyn Jones, 'Del Jones' died in Ipswich Hospital on 5th December 2025 aged 92 years. A beloved husband to his late wife Judy and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. Del was well known in Stowmarket and dedicated his working life to teaching at Stowmarket Grammar / High School. The family wish to give their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the friends, neighbours and carers who supported Del in recent years and helped him to live with independence and dignity. The funeral service will take place at St Mary's Church, Haughley on the 29th December 2025 at 2.30pm, and all are welcome. By request no black to be worn. Mr Jones (or Jonesy behind his back) was my 6th form head 79-81 - a fine leader, a great teacher of geography, an inspiration to many of us (and a deadly shot with a blackboard rubber for those not paying attention)… I suspect many ex pupils won’t know of his passing but would be sad to know of it - he truly was one of those schoolmasters that help shape lives
