In loving memory of Rita Mary Pearce who sadly passed away in her sleep on 30th November 2025. She was 93 and was a proud and loving mum, mother-in-law, nan, great-grandmother (grandmere), sister, sister-in-law, auntie, great aunt and friend.
Rita had many friends, dating back to the war days when she was evacuated with her mother and brother to Suffolk and her two sisters were born. Her father, and other family would visit them from the East End of London. She kept in touch with her school friends who later became her bridesmaids, for over 80 years, even though they lived in Sussex, Guernsey, California and Peru.
Rita was a much loved teacher for over 20 years at Woodside Special School. The children, and staff, became her other family once Jackie and Robert left home.
On her retirement Rita and Jack lived half of the year in their beloved house in France for 26 years where they thrived on the country life, making many new friends and always welcoming their family and friends from the UK, United States and Australia. Joursat really was their happy place. Although they loved their French lifestyle Rita was always a proud Londoner.
From her teenage days when she travelled to Nottingham or the Kent coast with her friends on her bike (from the East End of London), she always enjoyed travelling having visited the United States ( to see her old school friend) many times, Australia, New Zealand and many European countries. Not forgetting their trips up and down the country from Bexleyheath to see family and friends.
Rita spent the last two years being cared for in Bramblings Care Home, Hartley. We are so grateful to all the staff there for the love and care they showed her.
RIP Mum. We love you.
