As both the Worshipful Master of St Hiev Lodge of Mark Master Masons and Worshipful Commander of its sister Royal Ark Mariners lodge, I write on behalf of the brethren of both lodges to express our sadness at the loss of Alan.
Always approachable both in our lodge meetings and at our other formal gatherings, we know he will be sadly missed by all our brethren in the province.

I'm very sad to hear of Alan's passing.
I first met him in the 1970 apprentice intake at
Spencer and Halsteads
Training School in Ossett.
I lost touch with him not long after that but had the good fortune to come across him on his FB page about a year ago. We had a good few conversations over the next few months.
I really liked Alan and I'm pleased I got the chance to chat with him again. It means a lot to me.
Unfortunately I won't be around on the 22nd so I can't make the funeral.

God bless you Alan. Rest in peace.
