Beryl Southwell was born on 1 January 1936 in Steeton, beginning a life that would be filled with colour, music, laughter, and an unwavering love for the people around her. From an early age, Beryl discovered a passion for hairstyling—a talent that became not just her profession but a lifelong calling. For over 60 years she dedicated herself to her craft, touching countless lives with her skill, creativity, and warm presence.

Family was at the heart of everything Beryl did. She was a loving mother to Wendy and Sally, and a devoted grandmother to Lawrence, Abigail, Josh, and Georgina. Great grandmother to Patrick.
She adored family life—holidays, gatherings, celebrations—and brought her vibrant spirit to every moment.

Music was one of her lifelong companions. Whether it was jazz, country, or the big band sounds she loved so much, there was always a tune that suited her mood and energy.

Beryl was known for her kindness, her honesty, and her wonderfully straightforward nature. She told things exactly as they were, yet always with genuine care and compassion. She was the person everyone could turn to—steadfast, supportive, and always ready to help.

Her love of bright colours and her impeccable sense of style were unmistakable. She remained beautifully put together, with her hair and nails done right to the very end—a reflection of her pride, personality, and the artistry she lived every day.

Beryl’s presence lit up every room she entered. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unforgettable memories. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and forever remembered with love
