Mum fell at home on 2 September and fractured her pelvis, after a couple of weeks she was making good progress in Broomfield Hospital. Then on 24 September Pops became very unwell with severe abdominal pain and was ambulanced to Colchester hospital. (Very difficult situation for me travelling the A12 between the two). Meanwhile mum took a downhill plunge 29 September acquiring staphylococcus aureus in her blood, another bacterial infection in her urine and aspiration pneumonia in her lungs. We lost my dad on 2 October after 8 days in hospital with sepsis of unknown origin. We lost mum on 22 October, less than 3 weeks after Pops.
Obviously I am devastated. I gave up my career 4 years ago to care for them. I feel lucky they have gone at the same time, neither has to contemplate life without the other and nor do I have to deal with that situation, and I'm privileged that I am able to have their joint funeral on my birthday and say goodbye to both of them on the day they brought me into the world. Its a very rare serendipity to have all that come together💜
