Remembering so many happy years in the Gravesend Borough Band with Colin conducting and the friendship with him and June and my dad and mum. When he conducted the Dartford concert band for a while he also used to stop off in Gravesend to pick me up on the way to the rehearsal at Dartford and talked a lot about his time in the grenadiers band. I doubt that I would still be playing today without Colin’s encouragement.

Like many of us joining the Grenadier Guards band from KH or from basic training Colin was the first person we met in the band library at Chelsea barracks. From day one, Colin was always around to give us friendly advice and encouragement. My wife, Mary and myself also got to know Colin as the fine conductor of the Gravesham band and on occasion, attended his rehearsals. I will remember Colin for his lovely soft and calming manner. RIP Colin and condolences to all the family.
