Diana Susan Sykes (20 Jul 1975 - 12 Jan 2016)

Pretty, kind, generous, loyal, wicked sense of humour, amazing mummy, fantastic daughter, brilliant friend - just a few of the things I can say about Diana. We had some great times together and I was honoured to have you as my friend. I'll never forget you and you will always be in my heart. Don't worry about Chloe - she'll be surrounded by love from everybody especially from me and Uncle Alex. Sleep tight. love Chris xx

I met Diana at school, a girl with boundless energy and an infectious personality. I hadn't seen her since school, but managed to catch up with her via Facebook, although contact was periodic and I was very sad to read of her passing. My condolences to Paul and to Chloe, your Mum really was a special lady.

I am honoured and blessed to have known Di over the past 3 years. My son Will started school at the same time as Chloe. It was clear for all to see that Chloe meant the world to Di. On our last trip to the cinema just before xmas the bond between Di and Chloe was strong and very special. Chloe your mum is watching over you. xx

It took over 10 ooo miles and 30+ hours in a plane for Diana & I to meet & a lasting friendship to begin but despite the long distance & the challenges this brings, I'm so blessed to have met Diana & even more fortunate to have been her friend. We met in New Zealand & had the time of our lives. I visited Diana in England & she visited me in Australia. Diana was beautiful, fun, happy & like a breath of fresh air. She told a great story & made a mean cup of tea. I loved her accent & sense of adventure. Diana was a loyal, caring & thoughtful friend but she really excelled at being a mummy. I remember meeting you Chloe when you were only a baby & how proud your mummy was of you. As a mummy of a baby girl myself, I can only imagine how hard it must have been for your mummy to say goodbye to you, but she knew she couldn't have left you in more safe or loving hands. Sue, John, Paul & Chloe I'm so very sorry for your loss. I will never forget Diana & the fun, carefree adventures we shared. Love Kim

Diana often introduced me as her "oldest" friend. We have had a great friendship for over 30 years. From precious childhood memories of playing with Sindy dolls and rollerskating, through teenage years, when we kept in regular contact when I moved away to Manchester and a continually strengthening friendship over more recent years, particularly when Diana became Chloe's mummy and I was proud to become Auntie Ruth.

I remember spending many hours playing monopoly with Diana when we we young - something I have been doing more recently with Chloe. I will continue to share my memories of Diana growing up with Chloe - and keep alive the memory of her amazing and very loving mummy. I wonder if Chloe will take on any of Diana's more unique behaviours as she grows up - perhaps wearing red wellies to school aged 9 whatever the weather!!

Dear Chloe, I only knew your Mummy for a short time, when we all met as you and Marley and Chè started school. In that time I saw how much she adored you and was so proud. Her smile lit up her face & her star will light up the sky for you. Love to you and your Grandma and Grandad xxx

We’re all deeply shocked and heartbroken; our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Sue, John and Chloe at this difficult time. We remember many laughs and fun times shared with you Di, Sue and John, your personality was amazing. We cherish dearly the times we have spent with you, these remain in our thoughts and memories.

Diana holds a special place in the hearts of all who worked with her at Ashbrow School. Diana was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with children, especially our five and six year olds. She often chuckled at their comments and gently guided them to do the best they could with their daily challenges. Her smiles brightened up the days of children and adults alike.
Diana always took ages to walk down the corridor to her classroom. This was due to her caring, thoughtful nature. She could not resist stopping to talk to everyone in all the classrooms on the way to the classroom she was assigned to. Her sunny disposition was uplifting and it was always lovely to have Diana around.
Diana spoke so fondly of her mum and dad, Sue and John and her partner Paul. She was so proud of her beautiful daughter Chloe, often sharing stories about her achievements. She was delighted about Chloe's progress in reading and spelling. She always beamed when she spoke about Chloe, her own little 'chatterbox'.
Diana really did enjoy life, loved her family and friends. She had so much more to offer, so much she wanted to do in life and it is extremely sad that, that cannot be.
At school we are thankful for the time we had with Diana. Such a special caring friend to so many, will live on in hearts and minds. She touched us all with her kindness and beautiful smile. We will never forget Diana.

Di, my beutiful friend I wuss miss u so much. Chloe, your lovely mummy always had a smile on her face and lived life to the full. You were her world and as she watches down on you we hope to continue to build happy memories with you and your friend holly who loves you to bits. We all met at nursery and have been close friends ever since. While your mum and I watched you both grow up we enjoyed fun times together on girlie nights with a rose in our hands! Chloe, your mummy worked so hard to make sure you were happy and had brilliant memories. You were always her number one priority. Never feel lonely, she left such strong memories for you to hold on to. Xx

We watched you grow from a wonderful little girl into a caring and loving daughter to friends John and sue, and a lovely mum to Chloe. It was a pleasure to have known you for so long, but too short a time really. Your leaving us has filled us with real sorrow but our memories of you will always be in our hearts and minds. Xxx
