Funeral Director
Lindsey Elizabeth Hegarty
24 June 1957 – 26 September 2025
Lindsey Elizabeth Hegarty, aged 68, of Orston, Nottinghamshire, passed away peacefully on 26 September 2025.
Lindsey was born in Shirley, Warwickshire, and not long after the family moved to Nottinghamshire where she grew up and lived thereafter.
It was after voluntary work with the Red Cross that Lindsey decided to train as a nurse. Having qualified as an Enrolled nurse she went on to complete specialised ophthalmic training and found her niche in the ophthalmic operating theatres, a career that lasted more than forty years. It was a role she took to her heart. Over the course of her career Lindsey worked at the Nottingham Eye Hospital, Queens Medical Centre and latterly at Spire Hospital. Throughout her career Lindsey was a dedicated professional and proud of her role. Her experience and knowledge made her a highly valued member of the team but beyond that, it was her kindness and sense of fun - Lindsey loved to laugh - that meant so many colleagues became lifelong friends. Her gentle manner and professionalism brought comfort and reassurance to countless patients and families throughout her long and respected career.
Lindsey was a people person and her greatest joy was spending time with her much loved family and friends. Her home was filled with laughter, family, friends and, of course, the company of her beloved cats, who held a special place in her heart. A lifelong follower of fashion, Lindsey was known for her impeccable sense of style and her ability to bring beauty and grace into every aspect of her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Peggy Thomson, and is survived by her loving husband, Jim, and her cherished sisters, Patsy and Maxine. Lindsey will be remembered always for her generosity, humour, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.
Lindsey will be profoundly missed, but the warmth of her spirit and the kindness she shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A funeral service to celebrate Lindsey’s life will be held at Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium on Thursday, 30 October 2025, at 12:00 pm, followed by a gathering at Margo & Plum, Bottesford. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend - please don’t feel that you have to wear black. Family flowers only please
