Andrew Dobson, of Ketts Hill, Norwich, died aged 68 on the 19th of September 2025, following a short illness. He was a deeply beloved brother, Uncle and Great Uncle whose kindness, love and care knew no bounds.

Andrew’s quiet, humble and selfless nature touched many lives. He gave his time to many people and causes, especially through Cave Rescue and volunteering. He was somebody who made the world a better place just by being in it. Andrew will be greatly missed by so many and the world has lost a bright light.

The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday the 14th of October at 1.30pm. In honour of Andrew, no ties or suits. Dress code smart casual and bright colours welcome. All welcome to the wake following afterwards at Bawburgh Village Hall, Stocks Hill, Bawburgh, NR9 3LL.

I Heard Your Voice in the Wind Today:

I heard your voice in the wind today
and I turned to see your face.
The warmth of the wind caressed me
as I silently stood in place.

I felt your touch in the sun today
as its warmth filled the sky.
I closed my eyes for your embrace
and my spirit soared high.

I saw your eyes in the window pane
as I watched the falling rain.
It seemed that, as each raindrop fell,
it quietly said your name.

I held you close in my heart today.
It made me feel complete.
Yes, you have died, but you are not gone.
You're always a part of me.

As long as the sun keeps shining,
the rains fall, the winds blow,
you will live in me forever.
This is what my heart knows.

Andy was always kind and friendly during my visits to the South Wales Caving Club. I very often worked with Andy on many practical maintenance tasks during the caving club working week, usually clipping trees along the wayleaves, or repairing the fencing of the grazed fields. It was always a pleasure to cave, work or chat with Andy, often over a fine pint of draught beer brought all the way over to Wales by him and brother Dave. Conversations were always convivial and wide ranging, tinged with a gentle sense of humour, familiar to many no doubt. A sad loss indeed.

Andy has always been at the heart of the SWCC and is one of the nicest people I know. Just don't mess with the beer barrels or the cave system. He's leaving behind a lasting legacy and big hole that will take a lot of time and people to fill. He had a quiet dedication and competence that very few can match... well except Dave. I'm not sure who else could persuade people that some of the grimmer jobs were 'educational'. I'll also miss being told to go find a Dobson, either will do, when the latest crisis emerges. Dave I don't have the words, just know that we are all thinking of you and your family. I’m sorry I can’t be their today but I really hope to see you soon.
