In loving memory of Barbara Ann Saunders who sadly passed away on 9th September 2025.
Our Mum who will very much missed by us all but always in our hearts forever.
Barbara was born 10th June 1938 in Woolwich 1 of 3 siblings including Roger and Linda. All 3 were fostered in their youth and Barbara was the only one to be adopted. She grew up to become a talented draughtsman and later became a clearing clerk at TSB bank making many friends there. Barbara was a budding hobbyist and always kept herself busy with flower arranging and cake making amongst other things. She was also a very keen gardener.
She found love when she met Alan Saunders and after a grand proposal by Alan they married on 1st April 1961. It was then they purchased their first house together and became proud parents to Diane their first daughter was who was born in 1963.
A year later they purchased their second house which became the family home in February 1964. There the family grew with the birth of second daughter Tracy and later twin sons Ian & Paul came along, giving them all a wonderful childhood. The family often enjoyed holidays, and entertaining with their many friends.
Barbara and Alan became proud grandparents to 6 grandchildren a great grandson
Elouise, Dane, April, Megan, Fraser, Euan and Harley which they loved and enjoyed.
Sadly Alan fell ill with Alzheimer’s in June 2009 and passed peacefully with Barbara at his side. She remained in the family home until 2022 when she moved in to a new home in Longfield. Barbara made this her new home with help from the family and enjoyed her new small manageable garden which she dearly loved to attend to.
She also became a great grandparent again with the recent arrival of great granddaughter Maeve.
Unfortunately Barbara had been battling for many years a heart condition which caused her to become bed bound for the last 2 years of her life, her family constantly visiting and caring for her until she was moved to the Ellenor hospice Gravesend where she passed away peacefully with her whole family by her side.
