In loving memory of John Blease who sadly passed away on 11th September 2025.

John Hedley James Blease was born on 31st December 1951 to Kath and Bill Blease. Two and a half years later, he was joined by his younger sister Sandra.

A happy child, John excelled at school, and continued his studies into University, where he achieved his PhD in Mathematics.

John’s son, Jonathan, was born in the summer of 1984. Three years later in 1987, his daughter Heather was born. A proud father, he guided them through school and university and into the working world. Family get togethers were a regular occurrence as well as holidays to Tampa, Florida.

He spent the majority of his career working in systems programming at Lloyds Register of Shipping in London before taking early retirement.

This allowed him to pursue his hobbies and interests such as fishing, gardening and DIY.

The arrival of his two grandsons was a particular moment of joy for John. Heather first welcomed Leo in November 2018 and Zachary (“Zac”) in August 2022.

John’s health first became a problem in 2022 and he valiantly battled lung cancer and lymphoma. After a decline in his health, he had a month long stay at Medway hospital where he succumbed to a very serious pneumonia. His children were by his side when he passed away.

He leaves behind his two children, Jonathan and Heather;
Two grandsons, Leo and Zac;
His sister Sandra and brother-in-law Peter.

I first met John at Lloyd’s, where we developed a friendship through work and then our private life. We went fishing, built ponds exchanged ideas for DIY projects and any other thing you could imagine. I was always so pleased when John came to visit Patsy and myself.
The memories made with John will never be forgotten and they have created a lasting impression on me. I am so grateful for the time we had together.
Thank you for being a true and brilliant friend and confidante, who helped shape me into the person I am today.
God bless you, John. Your passing came too soon. I hope you are at peace.
Our sincere condolences to the entire family of John.
Pete & Patsy

John was a client of mine at Lloyds Register of Shipping and soon became a very good friend. After I left LR, we continued to stay in touch and regularly exchanged messages on New Years day - I was reflecting on the messages we shared on the 1st Of Jan 2025 - John was still full of his wonderful sense of humour albeit saddened by the loss of another close work colleague and friend John Coyne. During my working time with John, he truly helped shape my career. He will be sadly missed and my deepest condolensces to you all.

We remember John as a true friend and amazing neighbour. We miss seeing him sitting at his kitchen table working on his maths puzzles ready at any moment to come and help if he saw any of us worried about our cars. We miss him tending to his lawn, where he had weekly battles with the local foxes to stop them digging it up! Announcing what "buggers" they were.

John was always there for us, since the children were little he would put the xmas decorations up on the house, tried to teach them maths, and gave them guidance on their cars. He rescued us a few times from DIY disasters, dead rodents and garden projects. We miss him daily and hope now he is resting in peace.
