Loving Memory of Anthony (Tony) Bray
11th September 1938 – 11th August 2025
Anthony Bray, lovingly known as Tony, passed away peacefully on 11th August 2025, just a month shy of his 87th birthday. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Tony’s life was rooted in family, faith, and community.
Tony was the beloved husband of Pam, a partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they raised two children, Rachel and Andrew, in the heart of West Bridgford, where Tony spent most of his adult life. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, and he found even more joy in becoming “Grandad” to Thomas, Sam, Abbie, and Lewis — and later, “Great Grandad” to little Orla, who brought a new sparkle to his later years.
A man of strong Methodist faith, Tony lived his beliefs through kindness, integrity, and service. He was an active part of the church community and was always ready to lend an ear or a hand — often stopping to chat with neighbours, friends, and strangers alike. His warmth and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on all who met him.
Tony’s professional life was spent in local government, where he worked diligently in finance, ensuring things were done properly and fairly — a reflection of his own values. He approached his work with care and commitment, just as he did every aspect of his life.
Outside of family and work, Tony had a lifelong love of sport, especially cricket. Whether watching a match or chatting about the latest scores, sport was a passion he never outgrew.
Tony’s funeral will be held at Ruddington Methodist Church on Thursday 28th August at 10.30am. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and celebrate a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Action for Children, a cause close to Tony’s heart. Details of how to donate can be found on this page.
