In loving memory of Martin Beck who sadly passed away on 19th July 2025.

Following a number of weeks in hospital, during which he had many health problems, Martin passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday 19th July.
During those days in hospital, he often talked about his beloved wife Joan who passed away February 2024. Martin is survived by his daughter Beth, son-in-law Chris and grandchildren Anna (14) and Sam (11).

The funeral service will be held at 11am on August 15th at Barnby Moor Crematorium, followed by lunch at The Mayflower, Austerfield. You are very welcome to join us, please let us know if you are coming.

We have chosen for donations to be made in Martin's memory to The Salvation Army, as this was the only charity he ever gave money to, following them supporting a friend in need many years ago.

Martin gained solace in the words of Psalm 23 during difficult times:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Martin (and Joan) were lifelong friends and I am sorry to learn that he has died. I remember him with warmth and affection from working closely on matters related to care and support services. He was a proud family man who will be greatly missed.

Martin, with Joan, a lifelong and precious friend. Loyal, generous, helpful, caring and insightful.
We have shared so much over the years, supporting each other in the ups and downs of Life.
Martin, with Joan greatly missed and mourned. They are together now.
Sorry I am unable to attend the funeral. Too frail these days for such a long journey. I will be with you all in spirit.

We are so sad about the second passing of 2 of the best friends you could have. But take comfort in knowing they are reunited.

I have so many fond memories of working with Martin, he was such a wonderful caring man and always did his utmost for people . My most endearing memory is when he travelled to work on one of the worst snow winter days to offer help. It took him over 3 hours to get to work on what would’ve been a 30 minute journey on other days . RIP Martin xx

Martin and I shared an office, worked together occasionally and ‘got into mischief’ all too often.
We were each others ‘go to person’, to share a woe or take advice. And, once retired, to take an occasional beer, or two.
