Gwen Hall (20 May 1926 - 12 Jul 2025)
Funeral Director
In loving memory of Gwen Hall who sadly passed away on 12th July 2025
Gwen was born in Coventry and grew up with her mother, Doris, and father, Herbert Reddington and her younger sister Audrey. She loved playing teachers as a child and also loved music. The war disrupted schooling but went to Birmingham in 1944 to study Maths and then on to become a teacher.
She moved to Kingston for her first job and became involved with the congregational church. She continued to work in London and sing in the Bach Choir. In the late 50's she married Dick Hall and became much more involved in the church.
In 1969 she was elected to be Chairman of the Congregational Church of England and Wales where she was highly respected and very involved in the formation of the United Reformed Church. Over the years they travelled both for pleasure and representing the Church.
Gwen returned to teaching in the 70's and ended her career as deputy head in Peckham.
Retiring to Suffolk Gwen continued to use her calm organised skills to chair numerous meetings locally and nationally.
Gwen was calm, reassuring, direct, loving, consistent, talented, and many more qualities. She will be missed as a friend, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.
