Dave was born in 1950 to Olive and Cyril. The middle son of three.

He had a happy childhood playing in the street with his friends in the carefree days

when cars rarely disturbed play.

Dave lost his father when he was 9 and after that money was scarce but there was

plenty of love in the house to compensate.

After finishing school at Woolwich Polytechnic, he joined Greenwich Council as an

apprentice plumber. With day release and night school, he later qualified as a

Bonus Surveyor and remained with the Council until he retired.

I understand that the Plumstead Radical Club featured prominently during Dave’s

late teens and early 20s and that triple rum and peps were the main order. But best

not dwell there.

He then met Androulla, the love of his life, and settled down. They married in 1980.

Living first on Plumstead Common before moving out to Longfield. This year would

have been their 45th anniversary.

In September 1991, they had the joy of adopting Luke as their son to complete the family.

Dave was a proud and loving father to Luke. They enjoyed many a trip together for football, from Maidstone to Belgium and was always there when Luke needed him the most.

Life was good and they lived happily, often visiting the Lake District for holidays or

Cyprus to see Androulla’s family.

David had a great love for his Brothers John and Eric and would often talk about their trips from their youth.

Music was important to Dave and he loved playing his guitar and playing his records.

In later years he joined a Guitar Club and thoroughly enjoyed playing with his friends

and performing at concerts. There will be an audio of one of his performances at the celebration of his life later.

Although David struggled with his lungs that resulted in a Double Lung Transplant, he remained strong and true to himself. David was gifted with another 12 years; during which he was able to create more treasured memories with his family.

David was forever grateful to the young man whose lungs he received.

David was proud to watch his beloved son Luke marry Louise this June and complete his family with his grandchildren Miracle, Harmony and Luca.

These last few years David had many a setback in his health, but his humour never dimmed. On 3rd July 2025 David sadly passed away with Androulla holding his hand. Finally finding peace.

David was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all.

I met Dave through the guitar club several years ago. He was a wonderful fella with a warm personality and a great sense of humour. I enjoyed his company and admired his resolve as his health started to fail. He continued to come and support us at the concerts even though he couldn't join in which must have been hard. He will be missed. God bless you Dave.
