Gina was born on 5th October 1959 in Redcar, North Yorkshire. When she was 3, the family moved to East London, and then when she was 10, to Southampton, where she first attended Ludlow Middle School and then Woolston Secondary. She left school after taking her CSEs and started working for the City Council, and it was there she met her husband Geoff whom she married in 1982.They subsequently had two sons, Andrew (born 1985) and Dave (born 1989). She stayed at home whilst the boys were growing up, returning to work as, first, a Teaching Assistant and then an ELSA at Hollybrook Junior School, a job she did for 20 years until her cancer diagnosis led to her retiring early in 2022. After a courageous fight against the illness, she finally passed away on 2nd July.
