Allan Upton, born August 6th, 1951 in Ilkeston, was a devoted husband, dad, grandad, brother, uncle and friend, known for his humour, warmth, and love of life.
Raised in Kirk Hallam, he was a talented goalkeeper and lifelong sports fan. He worked as a mechanic & in plant hire and later as a warden with the Caravan Club, where he and his wife Jean made many friends.
Allan loved sport—especially Formula 1—and treasured a visit to Silverstone.
He embraced family life with pride, supporting his son Andy in sport and life, and gaining a daughter in Paula when he married Jean in 1992.
He was a fun and loving grandad to Louisa, Molly, Jess, and Alex.
Allan faced health challenges with great courage, and passed away on July 3rd, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of laughter, kindness, and strength.
Allan's funeral will take place at Mansfield crematorium on Monday 21 July at 1215.

Thinking of you, particularly today.
Al will be sorely missed. He has been a wonderful friend and mentor. Whilst he didn't suffer fools, he always ensured that you were equipped to meet expectations. We worked hard, but then we played hard. His balance, timing, ethics and humanity were only betterred by his sense of humour.
I hope that you were able to celebrate his life.
