In loving memory of Munim Alani, who sadly passed away on 4th June 2025
It’s hard to describe someone as unusual as our dad - playful, brilliant, generous, loving, and always unique. These traits and his trusting nature stayed with him 'til the end, despite the ravages of Alzheimer's that took almost everything else away.
His first thoughts every day were for mum - his darling Jo - and that never changed throughout their 72 years together. She was his first and last love, though family came a very close second.
Mum's loss is hard to comprehend, as she too was diagnosed with Alzheimer's just three weeks after dad, and hadn't recognised him for many years. They were together virtually 24/7 for the the past 50 years. She knows something is wrong and something is missing, but can't work out what it is.
Seeing the progression of Alzheimer's in both has been distressing for family to witness. Memory loss seems minor once the physical effects take hold. Yet dad, who knew us all right to the end, bore the loss of dignity and the onslaught of evermore-frightening symptoms, with serenity and acceptance. He was a remarkable and kind-hearted soul.
Munim is survived by his beloved wife, Josephine; his children, John, Sonia, and Adelene; his grandchildren, Paul, Matthew, Catherine, Robert, and Maya; and his great grandchildren, Lucas, James, and Raphael.

Will always be one of the most special men in my life and missed so so much xx
The jokes kept coming as Munim met his great grandson
Even up until a week before dad passed, as he would walk past mum in her chair he’d lean over, give her a kiss and tell her she was still as beautiful as ever. His love for her and his family will stay with me to the end of my days.
