In loving memory of David Peter Wilson who sadly passed away on 21st May 2025
David was born in York having completed his apprenticeship he went with three friends to South Africa in about 1972, where he worked and lived for about 6 years, during this time he met his wife Janet a nurse while she was on holiday.
Dave always loved his motorbikes and belonged to many local clubs, he was a great sportsman having played squash, tennis, golf, skiing and fishing. He really enjoyed his time at the New Earswick Nature Reserve where he was a Volunteer and also where he loved to fish, and this is why he has chosen this charity for any donations, together with York against Cancer. Dave was diagnosed back in 2023 with Bowel Cancer and he tried so hard to fight it unfortunately it became terminal, he will be sadly missed.

Whenever I met David he was always interested in where I had been and what I had been doing. I enjoyed his company and looked forward to meeting him at family occasions.

Dave was an excellent golfer, but he was always ready with praise & encouragement for those who did not play to his very high standard.

Dave was an amazing brother. He was protective of Chris and I and even let me help with his latest motorbikes In our teens! He was good fun. Everyone enjoyed his sense of humour. A real family man like his Dad. His children grandchildren and Janet were the centre of his life. I have been quite overwhelmed by his passing. He will be missed so much but has left us with happy memories, traditions, and more love in our lives. We love you Dave.xx❤️

Dave loved the quiet Beaty spots. He shared a beautiful secret swimming spot with us in New Zealand and we met him by chance in some of our favourite beauty spots. His common sense, generous advice and laconic humour made him a good listener and companion. We miss him already and send our love to all his family.

Fond memories of our times walking in the Lake District, your quiet but witty sense of humour, and barn dancing with you (just once)! With love to all his family.

Fond memories of rainy camping trips and Dave suddenly deciding he was vegetarian, much to Auntie Connie's despair.
Also, Dave's return from South Africa complete with beard, long hair and a definite Bee Gees vibe!
Such a great guy. RIP Dave, we'll all miss you.

My best memories of David are when he and my two - Stephen and Valerie, were children.  We lived near to each other and had lots of great camping holidays at different places, together with family and a small boat  which was David’s and from which we got much pleasure.  Remembering now being in the middle of Lake Coniston with Connie, David’s mum.
