It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Semple Barber, aged 86, who died peacefully on Thursday, 1st May 2025, surrounded by his loving daughters Joanne and Trudie.

He was a devoted husband to Patricia and a cherished father to Joanne and Trudie. He was also a beloved Grandpa to Francesca and a treasured brother to Josie.

John was known for his commitment to sport and camaraderie. A distinguished Captain of North Cliff Golf Club, he dedicated many years to the club, where he formed lifelong friendships. As a former player for Scarborough Rugby Club, John’s spirit of determination and team loyalty made a lasting impact on all who knew him.

John’s love for his family and his passions will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a kind, generous man who will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

We will also be showing the service on a live link if you are unable to attend. Please contact Joanne or Trudie for information about this. If you would link to also attend the wake afterwards please let either of us know. Thank you.
