In loving memory of John Tallack Tracey, who sadly passed away on the 10th April 2025 in the arms of his wife and 2 daughters. John was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in August 2024, and fought his cancer battle with such bravery and strength. He was taken from us far too young, at the age of 53. John always said "Remember the Good times" throughout his fight with cancer, and there truly are so many happy memories I am sure we all have with him that will forever be cherished.
John was born on the 30th May 1971 in Folkestone to Mick and Yvonne Tracey, and was the eldest of three boys. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood full of love and many happy memories, including holidays in Padstow with his Cornish family, on his mother's side.
Growing up in Folkestone, John attended Mundella Primary School and later joined Wyndgate Secondary school. John was intelligent and popular in school, having many friends that he stayed in contact with throughout his life and who were there for him in his final weeks and months of life.
After leaving school in 1987, John followed in his father's footsteps, joining the merchant navy and did various tours deep sea. After this, he worked for Hoverspeed, P & O and Stena Line before taking voluntary redundancy. John then became a Bus Driver, which he did for 7 years.
John met the love of his life, his Melly, in August 1993, and it all began with a cinema date to go see Jurassic Park. By November 1994 John had proposed to Mel and by July 1996 they were married. In 1999 John became a father to his first born daughter, Charlotte. A few years later in 2002, his second daughter, Zoe, come along. John loved his girls, working hard to provide for them and ensured they never went without. He was a superb support to them.
John joined Southeastern as a Train Conductor in May 2006. John was a bright man and worked diligently to become a Train Driver in 2015 and later became a High Speed Driver in 2019. This role John really enjoyed and he was a valued work colleague, who was well liked and respected.
John had many hobbies and he loved nothing more than being outdoors, whether that be running, cycling, dog walking or enjoying a beer in the sun on holiday. John had a passion for music, and loved to play the guitar, something he enjoyed throughout his life. John was known to his close family for his excellent cooking skills, and would often be found in the kitchen trialing new recipes and cooking up a delight. John enjoyed the simple things in life, whether that be a monthly takeaway on payday, enjoying a breakfast out or trying a new restaurant.
John was a kind man who loved his family and was known for his supportive and compassionate nature. He was generous and dependable with a great sense of humor, an excellent work ethic and an inspiring outlook on life.
John leaves behind wife and two daughters and his passing will leave a huge void in all of his friends and families lives.
