In loving memory of Christopher John Davison, known familiarly as Chris, who sadly passed away on 21st March 2025. Chris was born into a coal miner's family on 10th June 1939 in Sunderland. Some of his earliest memories were of the sights and sounds of war planes overhead. As a young man, he trained as a ship engineer and saw the world serving on a merchant vessel. Some of his happiest memories were from his time in Munich, where he learned fluent German and taught English as a second language. Later in life, he met and married his Venezuelan wife Marbelia, with whom he had a son called Daniel (or Dan, as he tends to go by), and learned Spanish. Before he retired, Chris worked for many years as a pensions adviser for Equitable Life, taking great pride in the high-level deals he negotiated with company directors in that role. He passed away peacefully in bed at Garth House Nursing Home in Dorking, with Marbelia and Dan by his side.
In his final years, Chris suffered from dementia, which led to his death. He received his formal diagnosis less than a year before he passed away, by which point he had already declined significantly, with Marbelia and Dan taking care of him virtually full-time at home. For this reason, Chris's family invite you to donate to Dementia UK, one of the country's leading dementia charities, whose specialist nurses provide free support and advice to anyone affected by dementia.
