In loving memory of Jean Homewood who sadly passed away on 14th February 2025.

A wonderful mother and wife.

Jean was passionate about music and art all her life making many life-long friends along the way.

She was a big part of village life within Brockham, leading the Brockham Wives Club for many years organising activities, and writing/producing for the All Village Concert. She was well known through multiple generations as a music teacher within local schools and in her home in The Borough, teaching both piano and clarinet for over 40 years.

Apart from teaching, her love of music led her to be a member of the South London Concert Band where she introduced several of her own pupils over the years, and enjoyed performing in many concerts around the country.

Jean always had a love of the arts outside of music, whether introducing the Brockham Wives Club to some new arts and crafts or being a member of a local art group, where she made many close friends.

The funeral will be held at Randalls Park Crematorium in Leatherhead at 3:30pm. Followed by refreshments in the Garden Room at Denbies from 4:30pm.

Dress code for the funeral will be funereal but with a splash of colour (particularly purple) as a nod to Jean's arty side.

If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, we have chosen The Cheryl King Trust, who provide grants and bursaries for children and young persons to learn a musical instrument who would otherwise be unable to afford to.

She was ‘The Lady in Lavender’. We were ‘the ladies who lunched’. We met via music and moved onto discovering the best places for afternoon teas around Brockham. We shared art tips and teaching tips and enjoyed many an afternoon concert together. She had the loveliest of personalities and had a kind word for everyone. She will be very sadly missed.

Jean, a ten year friendship that meant so much to me. Feels as if I knew you a lifetime . Friendship and sass in abundance, non judgemental. Making and listening to music together. You were the best. Thank you for all the happy memories. Sending love over the rainbow.

I met Jean many tears ago when I was first married and joined the then Brockham Wives. Jean was a beautiful soul. She was passionate about her music and her arts and crafts. Many a time at a wives meeting g she would try and encourage me with a craft activity, well it was a lost cause on me and we used to laugh about it.
Rest in peace Jean.

I had the pleasure of being taught clarinet by Jean. I have known her for 40 years. She introduced me to the South London Concert Band and she used to drive me to rehearsals every week. When I learnt to drive we used to take it in turn driving each week. We shared a love of arts and crafts too. She was the most lovely of human beings and will be very much missed.
