So sorry to hear this, I have only just heard. I have such lovely memories or aunty Jane and my dad in Scarborough when I was a child.

In loving memory of Janet Edith Graham who sadly passed away on 17th February 2025
Janet was born on 17th January 1938, to parents John and Violet Haythorpe. John and Violet ran a boarding house in the Peasholm area of Scarborough, where Janet and her elder brother Raymond spent their childhoods.
On leaving school, Janet moved to Sheffield to begin training to be a nurse. She returned to Scarborough in her early twenties and met Peter shortly after. Peter and Janet were married in October 1959, just 8 months after they met, and they stayed happily together for over 65 years!
Janet and Peter welcomed their son Simon to the world in September 1960, followed by their daughters Andrea in April 1963 and Carolyn in December 1968. Janet always worked part time whilst the children were young, mostly in the caring professions.
Janet and Peter loved moving house, and did so 12 times in all!
When the children grew up and moved away to college, Janet took over the role of caring for elderly relatives, on both her own side of the family, and on Peter’s; making sure that they were well looked after in their latter years.
During those years, Janet was delighted to become a Grandma to Simon’s sons, John and Mark; and to Andrea’s daughters, Sara and Hannah. When the last of Janet and Peter’s elderly relatives had all passed, they decided to move to York to be closer to Carolyn and her husband. When Alex and Angus then came along, Janet and Peter were so glad to be involved in their growing up years. Latterly, they also welcomed Simon’s step children Matthew and Ailsa into the family.
As the years went by, Janet and Peter were overjoyed to become great grandparents; to Henry and Esther; Libby, Arietta, Elva and Toby; and lastly Cleo and her yet to be born sibling!
In their retirement, Janet and Peter enjoyed motorhoming, and Peter’s hearing dogs became central to their lives. Samson was with them for 14 years, followed by Willow and then Kitty … all of them loyal and loving companions.
Janet felt that she was blessed to have the most wonderful family - especially her husband Peter who was her most loyal and devoted partner for so many years.
Words cannot express Janet’s love and thanks to you all. She was so proud to have such special children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You are her life’s greatest achievement.
God bless you all.
