Ian was a former accomplished pupil who excelled at cricket, both as batsman and captain. Later in life our paths crossed many times on Southampton Common where Ian was invariably walking one or more of the various dogs he and his family owned and loved. We became good friends and it is, therefore, a privilege to support this particular charity in Ian's memory.

I was very shocked and sorry to hear of Ian's passing, and send sincere condolences to his family and friends. I was in Ian's year at King Edwards and we shared loads of laughs, pints, cricket matches, Saints games and some memorable scrapes between 1975 - 85. Had not seen much of him over recent years but he was a larger than life character and and a great friend. He will be much missed. Thanks for the memories, Ian, rest in peace.

Ian was a great character and was my longest serving boss. I learned a huge amount from home and was great fun to work with, although everyone one had to have their wits about them, Ian never lost an opportunity to make fun.
His indifference to technology is legendary. He will be sadly missed and I am sure everyone who knew him has plenty of stories.
My sincere condolences to his family.

Such sad news. Heartfelt condolences to Ian's family & friends.

I had lost touch with Ian over the years, but the memories have never faded.
Ian & I worked together at GSK. Ian was a key member of the amazing GSK Procurement Team & I tried to keep up with the Finance support to that Team.
He was a fabulous colleague & very caring work friend. He worked hard & played hard. He was smart, driven & a best in class Procurement Professional that was always prepared to listen, coach, encourage, support, cheer you up, make you laugh & cause a little mischief.
We've lost a lovely gentleman, but I know all our memories will keep him alive in our hearts.

Very sad to hear of Ian's untimely death. Worked with him for a number of years at GSK. He was a fantastic boss, and an absolutely amazing professional. Travelling with Ian was always an experience as well, and we all have so many stories that we could write a book. He will be missed but memories of our times will still be with me for a long time
