Dennis was born and grew up in Sittingbourne. After completing his education at Borden Grammar School he served his National Service teaching in Kenya. This was a time that Dennis looked back on with great fondness. After completing his teacher training in Cheltenham he went on to teach and lecture until his retirement.

Dennis was married to Sheila and had two children, Chris and Gillian. After they retired he and Sheila moved to France where they spent many happy years in a house that they had bought and renovated several years earlier. They later returned to the UK to live in Sittingbourne once again.

Dennis was always active, enjoying gardening, wood turning and glass making. After the death of his beloved Sheila, Dennis continued to live in Sittingbourne until ill health forced him to give up his leisure activities. He then moved to Woodstock Residential Care Home where he spent his final two years in comfortable and caring surroundings supported by staff and family.
