In loving memory of Nicholas Grealy, who sadly passed away on January 2nd, 2025, at the age of 80, in St. Catherine's Hospice in Crawley. He had fought a long battle with cancer throughout much of the past year. Thankfully, he passed away peacefully and without pain, just as he had wished. Nicholas will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Nicholas was a truly unique and colourful character. He was a gentleman in every sense, and his warm heart touched the lives of many. Known for his kindness, generosity, and a constant willingness to help, Nicholas built deep connections with those around him. He was not only intelligent but also had a brilliant sense of humour that brightened any room. His passion for art, culture, and his faith guided him throughout his life, leading him down a myriad of interesting paths and fostering lifelong friendships. His boundless energy and enthusiasm will remain with us forever.
Nicholas' life was not without its struggles, but his family and close friends were always by his side, offering support and love through every hardship. In his career as a Social Worker, Nicholas met the love of his life, June. His devotion to her, especially through the challenges of her battle with Alzheimer's, was truly remarkable. His unwavering love and patience remained until her final breath, and we take comfort in knowing that they are together again now. Nicholas also held his stepchildren—Jody, David, and Katie—and his grandchildren—Joseph, Jessica, Syrenna, and Ryan—dear to his heart. His absence will leave a great void in our lives.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Nicholas' life during the church service, where we will remember and honour his memory. In the meantime, please share your photos and memories with us on this website, which we will incorporate into the service. We also aim to stream the funeral for those unable to attend, with further details to follow.

This is a message to everyone. I have just left further information in regard to the funeral. We now have a streaming link for those who are unable to attend in person. We also had a request that everyone attending also bring one flower that can be placed by his photo in the church. Of course you are also welcome to arrange for flowers to be sent. He did love his flowers.

We did not know Nicholas for long, having first "met" him via Zoom "The Bard's Not That Hard" classes. When Covid restrictions were lifted it was a delight to come face to face and enjoy his gentle humour and his insightful and pithy comments. He will be missed.

Nicholas, I so enjoyed your company, kindness and insightfulness. Helping you with all your (many and very varied) computer-related challenges was a joy and you retained your renowned sense of humour throughout. I will miss you hugely. Cathryn.

Nicholas was such a kind quiet man. A friend and i were having some lunch in west street cafe. Nicholas came up to have a chat as he was leaving. when we left to pay our bill, we were told - it has already been paid. A typical Nicholas action.

Nicholas will be missed by all who knew him at Guildford Shakespeare's The Bard's Not That Hard. He didn't say much but what he did say was always well worth listening to, and there was always a twinkle in his eyes.
