Reunited with his wife Irene on 1st December 2024. Loved dad, grandad and friend to many.
Dad was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumor at the end of August. He was only given a few months. He had his early 90th birthday party on the 5th of October and danced the night away to Dire Straits the Walk of Life, his favourite song to rock and roll to. He had an amazing time and raised £350 which he matched to total £700 for Manorlands .
He wanted to be at home like mum and I had the honour to nurse him until the end.
Mum and Dad loved their cruises and they will be on their final Mediterranean cruise with my sister Julie when their ashes will be committed into the ocean as per their wishes
Dad would have appreciated any donations to be shared between Sue Ryder and Marie Curie.
Thank You for reading

As a son of Irene’s sister Betty, Doug was a big part of my ‘growing up’ with many holidays spent in Yorkshire and his regular trips down south. He was always a person I looked up to and remember him fondly whenever I’m watching cricket. The annual Glusburn v Chiddingfold cricket matches, that were the focal point of the cricket season for so many, would never have happened if it were not for Doug. For that I’m sure both clubs are eternally grateful. He will be missed by so many and my thoughts are with Tracy, Jeremy, Julie and their families.
