Thinking of you all and how much you must be missing Val. I remember her sitting in our driveway in Northcote in the warm sun and looking at the world around her and her amazing family.

Samson, Quincy, Remy and I have so many precious memories of our times with Nanny. She was very fun, loved to play with the boys and had a silly sense of humour. She was always making and crafting for us and with us. She did lots of reading with the boys and shared lots of stories about the family in England – especially about cousins Caitlin and Jasmin.

Nanny and Grandad often went on holidays. Early on we went with them to Italy, Portugal and Wales. A real highlight for us was the visits they made to Australia – it’s a long hard flight and we remain so grateful that they made the journey to see us a dozen times. With them we ventured through the red deserts of Central Australia and Uluru where Nanny and Grandad wore massive nets on their heads to avoid being mobbed by flies. We went to the tropics of Queensland and to Byron Bay and Sydney. Nanny loved sunbaking, sitting at the water’s edge, going to markets and gallery’s, searching out craft supply shops, visiting our school, hunting for easter eggs with us, cheering on Quincy and Samson at football and striking up conversations with people wherever she went. On the last day of her final trip to Australia in 2019 Nanny and Remy went Koala cuddling.

When we visited, we went site seeing with Nanny and Grandad. We remember strawberry picking, going to beautiful gardens and old houses, along canals and the Cadbury factory with her. The boys were so proud to push Nanny’s wheelchair.

We will always hold dear the unconditional love, kindness and enthusiasm that Nanny showered us with. Already she is so deeply missed but her relentless determination, courage and resilience will forever inspire us.

Dearest Pete and Kemp family,
Deepest condolences on the passing of Darling Val. I met Val nearly 17 years ago on one the many visits she and Brian made to be with Pete, Nic and the boys. Val and I bonded instantly and I enjoyed our conversations and loved observing Val’s playfulness with her beloveds. Val and Brian formed deep connections with grandsons Samson, Quincy and Remy over the years - despite the tyranny of distance and that love will never be lost. Val’s approach to life - getting up and out there for adventure with her beloved Brian - despite big life challenges was admirable. We embrace you all at this very sad time on the passing of beloved and irreplaceable Val 💗💗💗.

Much love Nicky Kasnaxis, Melbourne Australia.

Val and Brian became my friends in their many trips to Australia to visit Peter, my daughter Nicole and our shared grandsons. We first met 16 years ago and connected straight away. There were fun and happy times together and we have kept in touch from afar these last few years. I have some very lovely memories of Val. Brian, you cared for Val so beautifully and I know you and all the family will miss her always. Rest in peace Val. With love we live. Eileen Rees.
